What makes our PGCE different from others?

  • Gain hands-on experience with a placement at Carmel College
  • Complete a second placement at a partner high school within the Catholic Teaching Alliance (CTA)
  • Teach across both 11–16 and 16–18 age groups for broader experience

Entry criteria

To be eligible for the course, applicants will require:

  • A pass (grade C or 4) in GCSE English and Maths
  • At least a 2:2 classification in a relevant degree to your teaching subject of choice
  • Show a clear commitment to teaching, ideally with 5–10 days of classroom observation experience.
  • You can apply before completing observations, but you should be actively arranging relevant experience.
  • Be prepared to discuss your school or college experience during the interview.
