Your Personal Achievement Tutor
Your Personal Achievement Tutor (PAT) will look after you from your first day at Carmel to help you make the transition from high school and settle into college life. Your PAT is your first point of contact if you have any worries about any aspect of college. They are also there to support you with any personal challenges. As well as being mentors, our team of Personal Achievement Tutors deliver a programme of 1:1 and 10:10 Ethics and Values group sessions throughout the year to support your studies.
Your PAT will provide:
- progress monitoring to make sure you are on track with your studies
- help with study skills
- help with applications for university, apprenticeships and employment
- help with Personal Statement writing
- referrals for any extra help or support you may need

Additional Learning Support
If you need help with revision strategies, stress management, exam techniques, report and presentation writing, essay writing skills, proof reading, coursework etc. then help is available. The Additional Learning Support team are also experienced in supporting students who have a broad range of learning disabilities and difficulties. Counselling Service
At Carmel College we believe it is very important to look after your mental health to achieve your best potential personally, socially and academically. Our person-centred counsellor works on the college premises from Monday to Wednesday offering a non-judgemental and confidential service. Our counsellor is professionally trained and is a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy with experience on a wide range of issues. After an initial 30-minute assessment, you will be offered 6 sessions to share and reflect on your concerns, your counsellor will facilitate the journey to achieve your goals.

Enrichment Activities
During your time here, you are encouraged you to take advantage of all the activities and opportunities that Carmel has to offer. Our extensive Enrichment Programme will enable you to enhance and extend your own personal development and wellbeing. It’s a great way to meet like minded people, stretch and challenge your academic ability, develop leadership skills or compete with others in a wide range of sporting activities. 16-19 Tuition Fund
At Carmel we will continue to offer the 16 to 19 Tuition Fund for the academic year 2023/24. This fund is aimed at mitigating the disruption to learning arising from the COVID-19 coronavirus. View the Statement here
