This week our UAL Art Foundation students enjoyed a fantastic workshop with local potter, Vincent Commons. The workshop helped our students to explore the medium of clay to create vessels and sculpted figurines using various techniques to refine our students’ skills on the potter’s wheel, as well as investigating how the structural properties of clay can be utilised through creative manipulation to form unique pieces that enhance our students’ portfolios.
After a demonstration on the potter’s wheel, students were let loose to make their own creations with some seasonal inspiration. In the afternoon, Vincent worked with our Clay Club members during enrichment time, offering insights and guidance to our newest Carmel potters.
