This week, thirty of our high-achieving students, accompanied by four staff members, had the fantastic opportunity to visit New College, Oxford University – an experience that was both inspiring and eye-opening!
Arriving on a beautiful spring day, students first explored the historic city of Oxford, taking in the sights, shopping, and capturing plenty of memorable photos.
On Wednesday, the real Oxford experience began! The group started the day with a full cooked breakfast in New College’s stunning main hall before working with Georgia, the college’s outreach lead. She helped dispel common misconceptions about Oxford, making the idea of applying feel more achievable.
Students had the chance to quiz current Oxford students in a Q&A session before touring the college, including some areas featured in the Harry Potter films! A delicious lunch in the main hall followed, before an afternoon of academic enrichment.
The highlight? A lecture from an Oxford Fellow on the history of 16th-century Iranian art; a completely new topic for many, but an eye-opening and thought-provoking experience. Students even had the opportunity to ask the lecturer questions, helping them develop key academic skills.
The day left everyone feeling inspired and motivated, proving that top universities like Oxford are within reach for our students. A huge thank you to New College for their hospitality. This experience has truly raised aspirations!
