Recently Upper Sixth, English Literature student Ray Sheridan Warburton, received the award of Star Reciter in the highly respected Poetry by Heart competition! Ray recited ‘The Song of the Mud’ by Mary Borden. Ray said, “The competition was great, and the process of understanding the poem and then learning it by heart was difficult but really rewarding.”

Our Principal, Mike Hill, wanted to personally congratulate Ray. He says “At Carmel we encourage all our students to be creative and ambitious in their approach to learning. Ray’s award is a fitting recognition of their love of reading, exploring and reciting poetry and will hopefully aspire Ray to even greater heights; it’s fantastic news.”
