Huge congratulations to Upper Sixth student Beri Salihi who took part in the Women’s Rugby League Challenge cup final at Wembley on Saturday 8th June.
Beri signed for St Helens at the start of the 2024 season. Prior to this, Beri played in the U19 academy and women’s first team at Wigan Warriors. Beri plays at Saints alongside other former Carmel students such as Amy Taylor, Grace Arrowsmith, Alyx Bridge and Lucy Sams.
Leading up to the match, Beri attended an evening to celebrate women’s rugby at St.Helens RLFC. It was an wonderful occasion giving Beri the opportunity to take part in an interview on stage alongside experienced player Leah Burke.
The cup final on 8th June saw St.Helens RLFC beat Leeds Rhinos 22-0. What a fantastic achievement!
Beri’s other achievements include representing the Women’s England Knight squad where she will play in the Lancashire vs Yorkshire match in the Origin games. If Beri plays well she could be selected for the Women’s Rugby League World cup qualifiers against France in the Summer!
We are so proud of Beri and wish her the best of luck for the future.
