Congratulations to Carmel students; Michel Hachem, Finley Crookes and Alex Thompson for representing Carmel at @theenglishspeakingunion Schools’ Mace debating competition on Wedsnesday 20th November at @bolton_sch 🙌

This was the first round of one of the most prestigious debating competitions in the UK, where our students competed against schools and colleges from across North West England.

Michel, Fin and Alex did an excellent job debating issues on the use of the 'Green Belt' for housing developments. On the night, they successfully won their debate, and they now move on to the second round of the competition!

2020 alumni student Charlotte Bond has been in touch after recently graduating from Clare College, @cambridgeuniversity with a degree in Human, Social & Political Sciences!

Charlotte said, "Cambridge is a uniquely challenging environment, but the opportunities it provides are incomparable. I was lucky enough to be taught by the leading experts in our field and be part of an incredible network of students and alumni!"

As well as being an Access Outreach Officer and Speaker's Society President, Charlotte also took part in internships in the Politics and Policy department at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. She said, "It has been an extremely valuable experience to put my skills into practice in an institution at the forefront of global policy advisory."

Thanks for getting in touch Charlotte, it sounds like you've had an incredible few years at the University of Cambridge and we hope to see you in college again soon to inspire our future Oxbridge undergraduates.

This evening of exciting and dynamic monologues will take place on Wednesday 11th November at 7PM in our Dalton Theatre. Each monologue has a personal connection and relatable story for each of our student actors taken from a variety of plays and film, including the Barbie movie and Macbeth to name a few.
