Many thanks to MP for St Helens South and Whiston, Marie Rimmer MP, who visited our Politics department today.
After giving a brief explanation about her role as a Member of Parliament and as a former leader of the local council, Marie took questions from our Politics students. There was a number of interesting questions considered, such as her opinion on Covid vaccine passports, and whether the House of Lords should be an elected body. There was also an interesting debate on the issue of votes at sixteen and how young people could get involved in politics as a career. It was great to have Marie and her staff joining us and the students really enjoyed the opportunity to meet and speak to her about a range of issues.
