Today we honoured the victims and survivors of the Holocaust as part of the 80th Anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau on Holocaust Memorial Day. Our staff and students had the privilege of hearing testimony from Holocaust survivor, Harry Kessler BEM, in partnership with the Holocaust Educational Trust (HET). Harry’s talk was a moving depiction of the events that took place between 1941 and 1945 and how these events impacted his family.
Harry shared his personal experiences as a young boy, how his family adapted to accommodate change across multiple countries and how one small act of kindness changed his life forever. Finally the talk ended with an insightful question and answer session including a showcase of his grandmother’s yellow star badge worn during her time in the Nazi concentration camp.
We’d like to thank Harry for taking the time to share his inspirational story with our staff and students.
