On Wednesday, 5th March, our Year 12 Health and Social Care students had the fantastic opportunity to visit Alder Hey’s Innovation Hub. The visit provided an insightful look into the cutting-edge work being done to support clinical staff and improve patient care through innovation.
During their time at the hub, students discovered a range of job roles within the healthcare sector and gained an understanding of how technology is transforming hospital processes. They took part in hands-on activities, including using virtual reality headsets to enhance patient comfort. These headsets help young patients feel more at ease during procedures such as injections and cannula fittings. They also allow healthcare professionals to practice essential life-saving techniques like CPR and the recovery position in a simulated environment, boosting their confidence in real-life situations.
Students also learned about the role of innovation in improving efficiency within the hospital, such as streamlining patient consultation recordings to enhance accuracy and accessibility.
The visit was a valuable experience, giving students a deeper understanding of the diverse career paths available within the healthcare industry.
