We are always very proud when our former students contact us to let us know about their achievements. It’s wonderful to share news of former student, Yasmin Baker, who has been loving her time studying Medicine at Imperial College London.
Here’s what Yasmin had to say..
“My first term at university has been a wonderful experience! I’ve enjoyed settling into my accommodation; making new friends on my course; meeting lecturers and commencing our modules.
“Despite COVID circumstances, Imperial College London has offered a multitudinous array of opportunities. I’ve been really lucky to have in-person teaching to complement my online learning. We’ve also been able to undertake GP placements, allowing us to engage with patients through calls to improve our clinical and communication skills. Medicine is my passion and I feel so grateful to be able to study my course in London.
“I was also elected as a Medical Academic Representative for my cohort; achieved a Medical scholarship for outstanding performance during the admission process; was selected for committee positions in various societies and was even asked to feature on the Imperial College School of Medicine Student Union Instagram page by doing a day-in-the-life takeover.”
Yasmin recently received vaccination training to help with the COVID vaccination rollout. Since the beginning of the year she has been vaccinating patients at different hospitals/GP practices in London. Yasmin said “It’s such a unique experience that I wouldn’t have normally received this early on. Seeing the excitement on the patient’s faces when they receive the vaccine and knowing that you’ve played your small role in the fight to beat COVID is very rewarding.”
What a fabulous start to your university experience Yasmin. Well done
