Congratulations to former student, Bella Heeley who’s received a Global Leadership Scholarship to Korea University.
Bella’s story
Bella has loved learning languages since the start of high school! Studying abroad will give her the best opportunity to broaden her skills and fuel her love for languages even more!
When Bella was applying for university through UCAS, she found that there are few options for multiple language studies at universities in the UK. At Carmel she studied Spanish, French and Politics and outside of college she was interested in many other languages and Korean was one she really enjoyed.
Bella says; “I started seriously thinking about moving away to study because I’d be able to immerse myself into a country’s language. Korea University gave me the opportunity to study multiple languages at the same time.
This university offers a wide range of courses and is one of the top 3 universities in the whole country. I’ll be studying Korean and Spanish in my first and second year and then hopefully International Studies. This will allow me to study more languages while also continuing politics from Carmel.”
At university Bella will progress into the field of Peace and Conflict Prevention/Global Cooperation. She is really interested in the United Nations University for Peace who offer specialised masters programmes in the areas she would like to pursue.
University Application Process
The process of applying for university in South Korea was really difficult for Bella. She had to complete the whole different type of application, as there’s nothing like UCAS to assist. However, her Personal Achievement Tutor, Emma Case, was a huge support by helping sort out her documents and being her academic reference.
Bella would like to thank Emma for all her help and says; “I’m so thankful for all Emma’s support and I am so happy that we’ve been able to see good results.”
