Great news – our Foundation Learning department has received a grant of £8,000 from Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority to deliver a project about sustainability.
The ‘Eco Hive’ project will involve delivering sessions on how to lead a more sustainable life. Co-ordinated by the Foundation Learning staff, the project has a purpose-built space our students to set up and run an eco-enterprise. This is a great opportunity for them to develop vocational skills which will be useful for further studies or employment.
It’s also great to hear that some of our Art and Design students helped with the branding for the project. Our UAL Extended Diploma students were given a brief to design an Eco Hive logo and there were some fantastic entries. Congratulations to Katie Trantum who designed the winning logo. Katie has now progressed onto the Level 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design here at Carmel.
Well done to our Foundation Learning department for launching such a brilliant project. We’re really looking forward to seeing Eco Hive developments over the coming months. Follow Eco Hive on social media for updates – @FL EcoHive
