Two of our former basketball players had a chance meeting when playing for their respective university basketball teams in America last week!
After leaving Carmel, Junior Oscar and Ellis Evans received a full scholarship to study at prestigious U.S. universities.
Junior left in 2015 and progressed to Mercyhurst University in Pennsylvania. Currently in his final year majoring in Maths, Junior’s name appears on the ‘All Academic’ list. He is one of the top 100 students within the university with a grade point average of 3.5 which equates to an A*.
Ellis left Carmel in 2020. He is now a freshman at Bryant and Stratton College in Rochester, New York, majoring in Business Management. He has made an immediate impact as the university team’s top basketball player in his first season!
Carmel’s Basketball coach, Dominic O’Neill commented: “Both players obtained their scholarships through hard work and commitment to their studies and basketball during their time at Carmel. It’s unusual for two of my former players to meet each other across the pond! The pair met at a non-conference game last week with Junior’s Mercyhurst team taking the win.”
We wish Junior and Ellis the best of luck with their studies and the rest of the basketball season.
