Congratulations to former student, Ben Hodge, who has been presented with the Liverpool John Moores University Good Citizenship Award for working on various projects during his time at Rainhill High School. The award was given as part of the universities Roscoe Lectures, which were launched in November 1997 to provide an open platform for debate on topics of public interest.
Whilst studying at Carmel College, Ben was the spokesperson for the LGBT+ Community and would voice the group’s opinions and discuss any issues during our staff Equality and Diversity meetings. He confidently spoke to a full theatre of staff about gender pronouns as well as being a great inspiration to our students, always offering his advice and support.
Ben has won several awards for his charitable contributions and has set up many fantastic campaigns to fight against hate crime and anti-bullying. He works in partnership with many worthy charities such as the Danny Fox #nomoreknives campaign and the Michael Causer Foundation.
Well done Ben and we wish you all the best for the future!
