Former student, Daniel Thorpe, has recently been in touch to let us know about his fantastic Law career!
Dan was an excellent student during his time with us and even appeared in our 2015 entry Prospectus. He has certainly come a long way since then! It’s lovely to hear that he has such fantastic memories of Carmel and that he has achieved so much.
Here is what Dan said:
“After finishing at Carmel I went on to study Law at Downing College, Cambridge, before studying an LLM in International Commercial Law at University College London. From there, I went on to teach undergraduate Law at UCL for a year whilst also working as a Paralegal at a boutique solicitors’ firm which specialises in commercial litigation. Last October, I started as a Pupil Barrister at a leading set of commercial-chancery chambers in Lincoln’s Inn, London, and hope to fully qualify as a barrister this Autumn.
“I look back at my time at Carmel fondly and could not recommend the college highly enough. I was very lucky to be taught by some supportive and engaging teachers. Thanks in no small part to them, I was able to achieve the grades I needed to get to my first-choice university. In particular, the High Achievers programme was fantastic in providing specialised and focused advice in respect of university applications, interviews and then careers beyond that.
“Away from studies and applications, Carmel allowed me to travel to New York in my first year and Tanzania in my second and, slightly closer to home, I completed a Gold Duke of Edinburgh award in the Lake District – all unique experiences in different ways.”
Thanks for getting in touch Dan. We wish you the best of luck for the future.
