Carmel Politics students lead the debate at the European Youth Parliament regional finals!
On Wednesday 28th February, eight of our A Level Politics students represented Carmel College at the regional finals of the European Youth Parliament that took place at Liverpool John Moores University.
The European Youth Parliament is a leading non-partisan, youth-led educational charity that provides exciting first steps to help students develop skills in debating and public speaking, as well as furthering understanding of key issues in British, European and global politics through regional forums, national sessions and digital events.
Before the event, our students were invited to research and prepare material on their assigned topics on key issues affecting the UK. Students took part in a series of debates against other local schools and colleges, covering influential topics such as; combatting antisocial behaviour, climate change and the cost of living crisis, to a jury panel consisting of EYP members.
All of our students made excellent contributions on the aforementioned topics that resulted in positive praise from the judging panel. We’d like to congratulate all the students who took part in this exhilerating event!
