Well done to Upper Sixth student Luke Darby for completing a full year of work experience.
Luke, who studies Maths, Chemistry and Biology at Carmel, aspires to have a career in medicine. He spent time every Friday last year working at Parkside Care Home in St Helens. His role was to help the carers with day to day duties including making breakfasts and serving refreshments.
Luke said “I really enjoyed my work experience. I’ve improved my team working skills as well as my communication skills, particularly when talking to the elderly. I think I would have struggled to find work experience on my own so I’m really grateful to our Work Experience Co-ordinator, Vikki, for helping me find the placement.”
Luke has applied to study medicine at Nottingham, Sheffield, Liverpool and Manchester universities. After having attended interviews, Luke is now waiting to see if he has an offer. We wish him to very best of luck for the future.
