The aim of the work experience was for students to practice the Spanish they have learnt in class by utilising listening and speaking skills, on a daily basis, to understand and communicate with native speakers in the workplace.
Students spent a week developing independence and confidence in the following settings:
- Hostel
- Pharmacy
- Indoor Wall Climbing Centre
- Education Settings
- Veterinary Surgery
Each day students commuted to work using public transport, managed their time effectively and cultivated transferrable skills.
It was also amazing for our students to experience a real Spanish festival, ‘Las Hogueras de San Juan’, in full swing on the day they arrived with lots of fireworks, music, parades, singing and dancing.
We’re pleased to report our students gained a lot from this trip by using Spanish in real-life settings as well as enjoying the beautiful city of Alicante during the incredible Spanish Summer sun. A memorable experience for all that fully brought the usefulness of A level Spanish to life and one that we will be repeating next year!
