What you will study

  • Classic and more recent Sociological theories such as Marxism, feminism and postmodernism
  • Research methods such as social surveys and participant observation
  • The sociology topics of: education, families and households, beliefs in society, crime and deviance

Three examinations at the end of year two.

Progression and career opportunities

Sociology students go on to a hugely diverse range of careers and H.E. courses. From jobs in the media, such as researchers and journalists, to teaching, police work, social work, health care. The courses and careers list is endless. There is also a wide variety of opportunities in all aspects of social research, such as youth services, the criminal justice system, education, etc.
