Exam Board Specification

What you will study 5 units:

  • Developing skills and techniques for live performance
  • Singing Techniques for Performers
  • Musical Theatre Techniques
  • Acting Styles
  • Group Performance workshops

You will develop skills in all areas of performance including acting, singing, and dancing. You will take part in workshops both lead by the staff team and visiting professionals within the industry, allowing you to ask first-hand about a career as a professional performer. The coursework for most of the units is a mixture of investigating the key features of the unit (key features of musical theatre, singing technique, acting styles, etc), workshops, and detailed rehearsal logs that help track your own development and skills progression. Each unit culminates in a performance which will be staged in our specialist theatre space.

This is a practical and coursework-based subject, with only 1 exam unit in year 13.

This BTEC is equivalent to one A-level and can be a complimentary course with most other A-levels or BTECs.

Assessments

There are internal and external practical and written assessments. (mostly coursework).
