Once again Carmel has achieved the Matrix Quality Standard for the Independent Advice and Guidance (IAG) provided for all of our students.
The assessment in March 2020 identified a number of key strengths:-
- The increased the use technology, providing students with even more opportunities to receive IAG.
- Monitoring of individual student needs and progress, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the service and outcomes for students.
- The college’s robust approach to evaluating the quality of the service and tracking of students, enabling staff to identify and implement improvements.
The assessment noted the well developed links the college has with partners and appropriate professional networks such as Shaping Futures and Sellafield Ltd. These collaborations have resulted in sharing resources, widening participation and improving the engagement and delivery of IAG to students.
The staff are recognised by partners as providing high-quality IAG support and development for students during their journey. Work Placement opportunities have improved further with more focus on career alignment with learner specific needs. The college has a wide range of approved employers covering many sectors. This has resulted in positive progression rates, providing students with bespoke work experience as part of their personal development.
Well done to all the staff involved in providing this high quality essential service to our students. This includes our Careers Manager, Jo Billington, our Work Experience Co-ordinator, Vikki Moran, and all of our Personal Achievement Tutors.
