It was great to welcome so many students from across the borough to Saturday’s Creative Careers Event.
The event was a fantastic opportunity for students to find out about the many careers that are available in the Creative Industries. The college became a centre of advice and creativity to help young people find fulfilling employment in the future. As well as representatives from universities, some of the biggest names in the industry offered their expert careers advice:-
Jamie Stockley from Factory inspired the next generation of Art Directors. Jamie spoke about working on programmes for the BBC as well as Universal in America.
Former student Lauren Hogan shared her experience of working for ITV. Lauren talked about controlling all the Apps for programmes like Love Island and Coronation Street.
Ant Conboy, author and one of the UK’s leading UX designers, gave incredible advice to those thinking of working in Graphic Design.
Architectural firm Brock Carmichael and Jon Farrell spoke to many students wanting to find out about working in the Industry.
Those who wanted to be fashion designers were entertained by Becky Mars from the British Fashion Council and Stylist Kieran Feeney.
The Actor Keith De’Winter recounted working on Star Wars with practical advice for budding performers.
Beth Roberts gave her insight into working as a defence photographer for the RAF.
For a few hours the campus was alive with Games Designers, Production designers, Product Designers, Photographers, Exhibition Curators, Fashion designers, Fine Artists and so much more. The event also gave Carmel students the opportunity to showcase their talented work at a fantastic fashion show.
The day was certainly testament to the dedication and hard work of the Carmel creative staff. Many thanks to all the guests that gave up their time offer their expert advice.
