Our Art Foundation, UAL Extended Diploma and A Level Fashion and Textile Design students had a fantastic time at the British Textile Biennial in Blackburn.
They spent the day at the festival visiting exhibitions and attending talks by practising artists and designers including artist in residence, Jamie Holman. They also got to participate in various workshops.
The trip was a great opportunity for students to engage in both historical and contemporary textiles. They found out about the politics of cloth, past and present and learnt about Blackburn’s rich history.
One of the highlights of the day was visiting the Adidas Spezial exhibition in Blackburn’s Cotton Exchange. This showcases more than 1,000 shoes / trainers from the private collection of top Darwen designer, Gary Aspden and fellow collectors.
