The English Department had a fantastic trip to Belfast. Twenty-five English Language and English Lang/Lit students enjoyed two days packed full of activities.
They visited the Titanic Museum where they got to explore the titanic story in a fresh and insightful way.
They also got to see rugged coastlines, historic castles and breathtaking scenery on the Game of Thrones Film location tour.
Finally they visited Northern Ireland’s first UNESCO Heritage site, Giant’s Causeway. This geological wonder is a collection of 40,000 basalt stone columns left by volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago.
The trip was interesting and insightful. Students were able to consider their ‘Crossing Boundaries’ coursework, including political, cultural and geographical boundaries, as well as links to identity and language.
