During our final Open Evening, our Art and Design students participated in a range of exciting events to showcase their amazing talent whilst raising money for an extremely valued charity local to our college.
Students studying the UAL Extended Diploma in Art and Design worked in collaboration with Willowbrook Hospice to organise a series of events at college to raise money. This included a cake sale, a raffle with prizes donated by businesses within the local community and a fashion show. The culmination of their event was an Art exhibition held in our Notre Dame building. Students communicated a variety of interesting themes for their projects from the effects of animal cruelty in the cosmetics industry and personality disorders to investigating how we interact socially in public spaces. The event was a great success and the students are very proud to have raised almost £300.00!
Students aged 18-19, studying on the UAL Art Foundation course prepared garments to use in short fashion shows throughout the Open Evening. They used garments and home furnishings previously donated to Willowbrook hospice and re-worked them into new, innovative fashion items. Some of the students produced promotional material to support the event displayed in the form of posters and booklets for visitors to take away.
