The BTEC courses are changing in 2017 and will now include a range of external assessment methods e.g. exams, controlled assessments & board set assignments. Internally assessed units will require you to complete an assignment and use ICT to present your evidence using a variety of standard software packages. This may include websites, presentations, reports, brochures/leaflets etc. The IT specification has been revised by the exam board, in collaboration with universities and employers, to ensure that content is up-to-date and gives students the skills and knowledge needed in the field of IT.
We offer a Level 3 BTEC Extended Certificate (equivalent to one A-Level) in IT units of study including things like Information Technology Systems, Creating Systems to Manage Information & Using Social Media in Business. This is ideal for students that enjoy using computers and compliments a variety of other subjects. Our Double Award (equivalent to two A-Levels) includes units such as Programming, Cyber Security and Service Management and IT Project Management. This course is ideal for students who are committed to a future in ICT/Computing to gain an in-depth knowledge to support further study or employment.
I enjoy studying BTEC IT as every lesson is different. You learn so much about computers that you use every day and the IT skills I have learnt so far will help me in my future career. I would recommend this subject to anyone that is looking at jobs involving IT or computer based work as this course will help advance the skills you already know
